USDA Internships –

Semester-long internships each semester with scheduling variances - Spring, Summer, Fall.

Target: Present collegiate students (sophomore status and above) or students having completed one full year of college, professional program, trade school, or other, with a direct interest in agriculture (production, law, communications, business, technology, etc.).

Location: All over the United States, including at the USDA headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Compensation: PAID! Payment is tied to qualifications and location and will vary depending on status in school, location, etc. To find out what compensation you could apply for, visit www.opm.gov and check out the GS2-GS5 pay scales, then divide by 12 months, and that should give you an okay idea of where you might begin. Could even range from $2-6K.

Process: Summer 2018 internship application period open on January 22 and closes on January 26, and will be made available on www.USAjobs.gov – then look for One USDA Internships. Applications should also include one PDF document containing a resume and cover letter and an official transcript. Applicants will be notified on or around February 23. Fall 2018 internship application period will open in April 2018. Spring 2019 internship application period will open in September 2018.

USDA Shadow Experience –

USDA understand some students are unable to participate in semester-long internships. They are currently working on a shorter, shadow-type experience where collegiate aged students may shadow an administrator, assistant secretary, or other, at a USDA office. We will be sure to notify you on next steps when those become available.

Smithsonian Gardens Internships

The Smithsonian Gardens provides an exceptionally well-rounded array of experiences in its intern program thanks to the wide diversity of services it offers to the Smithsonian, the world's largest museum complex. Interns will learn skills in a broad range of horticultural endeavors from SI's expert professional staff and can provide a strong practical background to emerging professionals hoping to enter the public gardening world.

We accept current and recently graduated undergraduate and graduate students studying horticulture, landscape architecture, museum studies, or other related fields.  Selection is based on both an evaluation of the applicant’s application and available positions.

EPA Environmental Research Assistant

EPA Environmental Research Assistant
The EPA Environmental Research and Business Support Program is searching for an EPA Environmental Research Assistant at the EPA facility in Ada, OK. The Assistant will assist with research to understand processes affecting the quality and availability of ground water and to evaluate and develop strategies and technologies to protect ground water resources. The job is expected to begin November 2017.

*        Full time, $20.34/hour;

*        Must have earned at least a Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, geology, soil science, environmental science, environmental engineering, or another scientific discipline from an accredited university or college within the last 24 months;

*        Must have experience in laboratory sample collection, data analysis and evaluation, sample preparation, and PC computer applications; and

*        Will perform tasks such as analyzing soil and water samples, collecting data, performing quality assurance checks, and maintaining a laboratory notebook.
