The Louisiana Poultry Industries Educational Foundation, Inc., will be offering scholarships on a competitive basis for students demonstrating a sincere interest in the poultry industry.
A student must meet the following requirements for eligibility:
1. Demonstrate sincere interest in the poultry industry by one or more of the following:
A. Majoring in Animal Science, Agribusiness, Business,
Pre-veterinary Medicine, or Engineering
B. Poultry Course Enrollment or Completion
C. Poultry Industry Related Internship, Work, or Activities
2. Possess a minimum of 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
3. Be a student in a Louisiana institution of higher learning.
4. Have completed a minimum of 15 college credit semester hours or equivalent.
5. Submit the following by the May 15, 2019 deadline:

B. 250 Word Essay on Poultry Industry Interest
C. Three Letters of Recommendation
D. Current Academic Transcript

Scholarships are awarded by the foundation to qualified students on a competitive basis. Major requirements include a sincere interest in the poultry
industry as demonstrated by majoring in Animal Science, Agribusiness, Business, Pre-veterinary Medicine, or Engineering. Enrollment in poultry courses, involvement in poultry industry related internships, work, or activities will also be considered for the awarding of scholarships. A minimum of 2.5 grade
point average is required. Applicants must have completed 15 college credit
semester hours or equivalent and be enrolled in a Louisiana institution of higher education.
Applicants must do the following:
1. Fill out the application form. You may use extra pages if needed.
2. Submit a 250 word essay explaining your interest in the poultry industry.
3. Attach three letters of recommendation.
4. Attach a current academic transcript.

State of the Coast 2016
Early-Bird Registration Continues – Save $50 on Admission!
State of the Coast 2016 is committed to offering a robust, comprehensive conference at an easily affordable price. Our Early-Bird Registration is now open, but time is running short. For professionals, the three-day price is only $410 and for students, it’s only $160. Early-Bird Registration continues until Sunday, April 3. Afterwards, registration will be $460 for professionals and $210 for students. Your registration includes entry into all of our daily sessions and events, morning and afternoon networking breaks, lunches, an opening reception Wednesday night, as well as a Happy Hour Poster Session Thursday night. This is an incredible value for a three-day conference in one of the world’s most exciting cities--New Orleans.

Restoration on the Half Shell: Presentations in Non-Technical Language
This half-day program is brand new to SOC16! It offers an overview of coastal protection and restoration in Louisiana, including current plans and the progress that’s been made. Consider this a “mini-SOC16” experience. There will be two sessions of presentations and discussions in clear, non-technical language. To maximize the experience, attendees will have full access to all posters and exhibits. Student Scholarships and Student Worker Positions
* FREE REGISTRATION OPPORTUNITIES * are now available for the State of the Coast Conference 2016 (June 1st - 3rd, 2016) for students in two categories: Student Scholarships and Student Worker Positions.
Student Scholarships will be offered to a limited number of qualified undergraduate or graduate students who have submitted abstracts for oral or poster presentations by the deadline (November 30th, 2015). A Student Scholarship covers registration fee for the conference and includes admission to all oral and poster sessions, exhibits, breaks, luncheons, the Opening Reception, and Poster Session Happy Hour.

The State of the Coast Conference is the largest event of its kind providing interdisciplinary presentations on the dynamic state of Louisiana's coastal communities, environment, and economy. The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL), the Water Institute of the Gulf and the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) have partnered to produce this forum, the need for which grows with every acre of land lost to the Gulf.

AIR & WASTE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES ITS
2014 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
The Louisiana Section of the Air & Waste Management Association is searching for candidates for a one-time cash scholarship award in the amount of $5,000 (1 recipient) and $2500 (2 recipients). The award also includes a one year student membership in the Air & Waste Management Association.
Eligibility: Individuals must meet the following minimum requirements to be eligible for award consideration:

Must be a full time student during the year of the scholarship award attending a
college or university or law school located within the geographical region of the
section. (Louisiana and the Sabine River Region of Eastern Texas)

Must be at least a Junior and no higher than Master's level graduate student
during the year of the scholarship award (Fall 2014 and Spring 2015).
-
Must have at least two semesters (or three quarters) of schooling remaining at
the time of the award (Minimum Fall 2014 and Spring 2015).
-
Must be pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree with the major in engineering,
physical or natural science, or public health. (Note: Those pursuing a degree in
computer science are not eligible.) Students pursuing a law degree are eligible.
Doctoral candidates are not eligible.

Must show through course work, projects, personal interest, etc., a desire to
promote air pollution control and/or solid or hazardous waste management.
-
Must have at least an overall 3.00 or higher on a scale of 4.00 including all
coursework through the last completed semester.
-
Must be interviewed by Louisiana Section representatives. The interview will be
scheduled by the Section after the application deadline.

The winning applicant should attend the meeting in July to receive the
scholarship award.
Section 1: General Application Information Sheet
Complete the attached general application information sheet.
Section 2: Résumé
Enclose a one to two page resume emphasizing career interests and goals.
Section 3: Interest and Award Statement
Provide a one to two page statement of your interest in the environmental field. Describe how the award will be applied.
Section 4: Transcript
Supply a current official copy of your college or law school transcript.
Section 5: Recommendation
Supply a letter of recommendation from your major professor or department head which should be returned to you in a sealed envelope. The envelope should be signed across the seal by the person submitting the recommendation. As an alternative, an e-mail can be sent from the major professor or department head directly to the contact listed below. A recommendation letter in PDF may also be sent from the person providing the recommendation directly to the contact listed below.
Section 6: Current Financial Awards
Provide a list of all financial awards, including their amounts and basis for selection (need or merit), expected to be received during the year of the scholarship award (Fall 2014 and Spring 2015). The amount of tuition for a full year of school should also be included.
Selection Process: Awards will be made on the basis of academic record, plan of study, career goals, recommendations, and financial status without consideration of sex, race, national origin, age, or physical disability. The Scholarship Awards Committee reviews all applications received and its decision is final. Announcement of the scholarship awards will be made in June.

Udall internships, scholarships, fellowships
The U.S. Congress established the Udall Foundation as an independent executive branch agency in 1992 to honor Morris K. Udall's 30 years of service in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2009, Congress enacted legislation to honor Stewart L. Udall and add his name to the Foundation. It is now known as the Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation. As set forth in the founding legislation, the purposes of the Foundation are to:
- Increase the awareness of the importance of, and promote the benefit and enjoyment of, the nation's natural resources;
- Foster a greater recognition and understanding of the role of the environment, public lands and resources in the development of the United States;
- Identify critical environmental issues;
- Develop resources to train professionals properly in environmental and related fields;
- Provide educational outreach regarding environmental policy;
- Develop resources to train Native American and Alaska Native professionals in health care and public policy;
- Through the U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution, provide assessment, mediation, and other related services to resolve environmental disputes involving federal agencies.
The Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation is one of five federal foundations established by Congress. The other four federal foundations include the Christopher Columbus Foundation, Barry M. Goldwater Foundation, James Madison Foundation, and the Harry S. Truman Foundation.

The Rockefeller State Wildlife Scholarship
Be a Louisiana resident for at least one year prior to July 1st of the scholarship award year
Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student in a Louisiana Public College or University majoring in forestry, wildlife or marine science with the intent of obtaining a degree in that field.
Undergraduate students must have earned at least 60 hours of college credit and have at least a 2.50 cumulative college GPA.
As a graduate student have at least a 3.00 cumulative college GPA on all credits earned in graduate school.
