Director of Research & Collections

The North Carolina State Museum of Natural Sciences (http://www.naturalsciences.org/) seeks a Director of Research & Collections to lead a department of 17 permanent staff, housing more than 3 million specimens in Geology, Paleontology, Invertebrates, Fishes, Amphibians & Reptiles, Birds, and Mammals. The successful candidate will have a strong background in collection-based research; be knowledgeable in museum science, curation, and policy; have considerable management experience; and provide a vision for collection-based research at the museum, including integration with the museum’s new interactive science education wing, the Nature Research Center.  A Ph.D. in biology, environmental science, or related field is preferred.
