This position is stationed at Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) located near Karnack, Texas, and reports to the l&M zone biologist for central and east Texas. The employee will provide support for the Inventory and Monitoring (l&M) Program at Caddo Lake NWR and other refuges in central and east Texas including Little Sandy, Neches River, Balcones Canyonlands, Trinity River, and Attwater Prairie Chicken.
The employee is responsible for assisting the zone biologist and refuge staff with implementing l&M surveys, including planning, logistical support, field surveys, data entry, and reporting. An integral part of these surveys is assisting the refuge forester with measuring effectiveness of forest management practices, including assessing past timber sales and prescribed burns and determining future management actions for achieving desired forest outcomes.
