Natural Resources Specialist V/District Management Supervisor


Agency: Inland Fisheries Division, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department (TPWD)
 Job Location: Inland Fisheries District Office – Wichita Falls, TX
 Responsibilities:  The Natural Resources Specialist V serves as a District Management Supervisor for Inland Fisheries District 2E (map may be found at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/business/about/divisions/inland_fisheries/offices/if2.phtml ). This position is responsible for planning and conducting surveys on freshwater impoundments and streams; analyzing and interpreting survey data; implementing approved application; planning and conducting management related research; writing technical reports and scientific publications on significant results and findings; and designing and implementing outreach programs. Position is responsible for all fisheries management or research activities. Serves as the Department’s representative on key inter-agency projects involving waters within the project. Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.
 Working Conditions:  (1) Required to work from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday; (2) Required to work overtime as necessary including some weekends; (3) Travel of 40% is required with possible overnight stays; (4) Non-smoking work environment in all State buildings and vehicles.
 Qualifications:  
·         Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Fisheries Science or related Biological Science.

·         Preferred Education: Master’s degree or Ph.D. from an accredited college or university in Fisheries Science or related Biological Science.

·         Experience: (1) Three years of progressive experience as a Fisheries Biologist or Aquatic Habitat Management Biologist; (2) One year supervisory or team lead experience. NOTE:  Experience may have occurred concurrently.

·         License/Certifications: Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid Class "C" Texas driver's license. NOTE: Retention of position contingent upon obtaining and maintaining license.
