EXTENSION ASSOCIATE
RENEWABLE NATURAL RESOURCES
(ANTICIPATED)
(This is a grant-funded, non-tenure track position through December 2012. Funding must be available for any continuation of appointment.)

WORK LOCATION: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU Ag Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana

NATURE OF WORK: The Extension Associate position is intended to assist in extension and research outputs pertaining to marine and estuary baitfish aquaculture within Louisiana. The work performed by this position will directly assist aquaculture operations in the state and region, as many of the tasks pertain to the needs of stakeholders in marine baitfish culture. This position will coordinate extension and publication activities, and will help carry a cooperative research program. In addition, the position will support examinations of potential or new aquaculture species as well as develop strategies to improve upon existing practices through better understanding of the individual organism interactions with their environment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: B.S. degree with one year or more of relevant experience or M.S. Degree in Biology, Zoology, Agriculture, Agricultural Business, Aquaculture or related field. Applicant must possess experience in some, or preferably all, of the following: (1) Previous experience in extension and aquaculture research is desirable. (2) Familiarity and experience with marine and estuary baitfish taxa. (3) Ability to work in evenings and on weekends to interact with stakeholders. (4) Willingness to travel to various locations in coastal Louisiana. Ability to work independently, create work plans, meet deadlines, collaborate as a team, and work in difficult environments.
