Environmental Coordinator III
Position Responsibilities:
•
Identifies and develops expertise in the areas of regulation assigned,
determines and communicates impact, identifies potential environmental
issues and participates in their resolution
• Identifies, creates and implements programs, processes, procedures and standards necessary to implement
compliance
management or Management Systems activities. Communicates to the
affected Business Units the information necessary for their compliance
and provides necessary training to affected employees and performs
audits
• Generates or delegates regulatory reports and /or permit applications
• Develops and executes approved budgets
•
Develops strategies for and negotiates with regulatory agencies. Builds
and maintains good working relationships with regulatory counterparts
• Attends Trade Association and Industry, Governmental, Community or Regulatory Group meetings on behalf of Sasol North America
• Provides leadership for individuals working on regulatory projects as assigned
•
Develops a full understanding of Sasol North America businesses so that
impacts of regulations can be determined and competitive opportunities
identified
• Hires and manages environmental contractors for projects which may exceed $1.5MM in size
• Supervises other professional level personnel or technician(s) as assigned
Experience/Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sciences
• 5 to 8 years experience in regulatory affairs (chemical industry experience preferred)
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Excellent computer skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills dealing with all levels of personnel
• Ability to interact effectively with regulatory agencies
